Hi, my name is Steff and I was trained in a French cooking school in Cape Town, South Africa. Over the last 5 years I have been exploring the culinary world, while having a range of experiences, seeing and creating beautiful dishes and moments. Over the last 5 years I have been exploring the culinary world, while having a range of experiences, seeing and creating beautiful dishes and moments. I have worked in a range of kitchens, from an intense, fast-paced kitchen in a 5-star hotel, to a small guest house in rural South Africa where I would fish for the "catch of the day" myself and serve it for dinner on a banana leaf from the garden. I also worked in the tasting room of a wine farm where we made rustic, seasonal dishes with garnishes and herbs picked from the beds outside the farm-kitchen. Now I am based in Leeds, where I have lived for over a year. Last year I was head chef of an independent coffee shop that focused on vegetarian dishes, often teaming up with guest chefs, doing pop-up restaurants and events. This year I am working with an ex-Masterchef quarter-finalist, doing catering for all sorts of events, from birthdays, to private dining evenings and weddings. My style of cooking is in line with fine French cuisine with rich, deep flavoured sauces and lush desserts. I also enjoy making punchy, spicy dishes, using my experience in South African spices and tastes. I love cooking oriental-style dishes with Asian inspired flavours, using a quick method of cooking, using woks and flash-frying. I am very much looking forward to exploring my depths as a chef and cooking in a more intimate setting, while pleasing people with my food and providing a base for a brilliant evening. Read all Hide
