He then went on to achieve Les Routiers Restaurant of the year south and south east. Michael has also achieved recommendation in the Michelin guide on two separate occasions. Michael has a classic french cookery background and enjoys bringing this to the modern style of cookery. I had a lovely surprise of being a contest winner with Tesco and the prize was a meal for up to 8 people in my own home. I was a bit sceptical about this but the staff at La Belle Assiette were brilliant!
The meal prepared and served by Mike Findlay was the best ever! He arrived right on time and started work on a lovely five course meal. I didn't need to do anything and felt like I was in a restaurant - service and food couldn't have been better! It was excellent, really good and very convivial.
We were blown away with the experience of having Chef Mike cook for us and all of our guests had an amazing time. After making the booking Chef Mike called me within a few days to confirm a menu and to talk through his ideas. We spoke again the day before the event and everything was all good. On the night Chef Mike was excellent - he easily got himself sorted in the kitchen and while we got the kids ready for bed he went to work cooking up the most wonderful food. Three different canapés, toasted focaccia with balsamic glaze and then into the starter, main and desert. The food was worthy of a top class restaurant and Chef Mike explained each dish as he brought it through. He even made some after dinner chocolates too, which were, of course, also delicious. He was totally professional and happy to let us talk with him as he worked his magic - a thoroughly pleasant guy and a wonderful Chef. Everyone was delighted and as this was the first time we had hired a private chef, everyone agreed that it was an excellent idea and worked brilliantly. Thank you Chef Mike for making my wife's birthday meal truly an unforgettable experience
Michael arrived on time and quickly set to work. The meal was delicious. All 14 guests loved every course and commented that even though between us we had visited 3 different Michelin starred restaurants in the past week, this was by far the tastiest. Presentation was superb and the 'waitress' was a star. Can thoroughly recommend Michael.

Michael was very professional, very friendly, very tidy... and most importantly an excellent chef! The food was amazing and he explained it all very clearly. He was unobtrusive and very pleasant.
All of the food served was delicious and full of flavour. From the appetisers to the dessert, the food was impeccable and made for a fantastic evening. It was something I'd never tried before and it was better than I expected. I left feeling full and having tried some new foods too.
Our chef Mike was really friendly and professional - and he cooked a fantastic meal that was enjoyed by all. It was a great night and I would thoroughly recommend booking him. Delicious food, especially the sticky toffee pudding!

After working in the catering industry for 24 years. It is so wonderful to see and talk to your client and see expressions when they journey through the menu.
When I'm not cooking, I love to spend my time with my son and family, which quite often leads to cooking with them.
The Roux Brothers on Patisserie was the first book I bought when starting on my career and it is still my favourite. I love the classic and skilled cookery that concentrate on the flavour and texture of the dish.
