Studying graphic design at University was a bonus for Jemma, but her culinary journey began whilst designing a cookbook which led her to study a full culinary degree at Leith's School of Food and Wine in 2016. She then made her way up the kitchen at Petersham Nurseries, Richmond where she learnt about sustainable produce and seasonality, how to look after your ingredients and get the best out of them. Making fresh pasta and foraging her own produce were just some of the skills, and now hobbies, Jemma has developed over her time with Petersham. Having the opportunity to work supper clubs within the company as well as festivals - the variety of experience Jemma gained from just one business was a chefs playground. She then went on to Koya in Soho - a 23 seater Japanese Udon Bar working closely with the talented Shuko Oda. Suddenly Jemma was immersed in the world of Japanese cuisine; learning about the different ingredients, people, culture and even language. Working closely with a Japanese vegetable farm down in Lewes, Jemma's love of good quality ingredients grew stronger. Being a chef has extremely demanding hours but whilst Jemma would like to travel the world, catering for supper clubs is something she is keen to get into. Read all Hide
