Gee is an amazing chef, the food was really delicious and he accommodated all the dietary requirements as well as menu changes. He was very easy to contact prior to the event and responded promptly to messages. He also arrived on time, and set up everything and then tided everything so well that I’m sure the kitchen was tidier than when he got there. He was a professional throughout with our varied course timings and hectic murder mystery game. All in all Gee deserves way more than 5 stars and I would definitely use him again if I had a similar event.

My wife actually enjoyed looking through the various menus and chefs available and found a wonderful menu for a reasonable budget with chef Gee. Highly recommend the scallops and duck menu. We requested the Chocolate Marquise dessert, and changed the sides too without any issues. He was completely accommodating a made a fish alternative for one of our guests too. He was polite & friendly without being intrusive. Each mouthwatering dish was beautiful presented. He was flexible with timings between courses. A perfect 30th birthday celebration meal! Thank you!

Gabor came to a holiday cottage to cook the tasting ten menu. He was utterly charming and by the end of the evening we felt like we had spent the evening with a friend. Gabor was attentive without being intrusive and the food was Michelin star quality. Every course was delightful and cooked to perfection. Before the event we were able to make any changes we wanted. On the evening Gabor asked how we liked certain dishes cooked and his attention to detail was first class. He has a great sense of humour and made the evening very special. I would not hesitate to recommend him and just wish he lived closer to our home!

Gee (Gabor) cooked the most amazing dinner for us to celebrate my 30th birthday. We were a group of 8 adults and each one of us was extremely impressed with the dinner. Gee is such a friendly person, whilst being very professional too. We all felt really at ease in the house as he took care of the cooking.
He served us himself and each course was delivered at the perfect temperature.
The dinner itself was simply delicious with one of the best lamb dishes I've ever had. My family is French so the expectations were quite high and I can definitely say that they were blown away by what he put on the table!
When he left the kitchen it was sparklingly clean, and we genuinely had nothing to do except relax.
I highly recommend chef Gabor and his services. We all had a really fantastic experience and now have wonderful memories of the evening thanks to him.

The chef Gee and the waitress Jo could not have been more perfect. The food was AMAZING (the taste and the presentation). They worked hard, were professional and fun and left everything spotless. My expectations were high but they exceeded them on every front and I am already trying to think of an excuse to us them again (as are many of my guests). Thank you.

We had a fabulous meal this week cooked by Gee. He was lovely and very unobtrusive, cooking us 5 delicious dishes for a family 70th birthday party. Highly recommended! The lobster ravioli with lobster bisque was my favourite, but all was delicious and presented beautifully. He left the kitchen spotless when he left too.
We booked our chef for a friends hen do. The food was amazing! Reasonably priced; the food quality was exceptional too. To top it off all the meal was prepared (even the table) and washing up done. We couldn’t have wished for a nicer chef. The bride was over the moon and will remember this experience for a very long time. Highly recommended!

Chef Gee (and Jo who came to help him serve) created an outstanding seven course meal for six of us, this was for my 70th birthday held in a holiday rental cottage in the New Forest.
Its easy to go overboard with fulsome praise but in this instance it is well-deserved, a number of our party declared the meal "...the best (I) have ever eaten..." - this from a group who love their food!
Chef Gee's attention to detail and perfect timing of each dish confirmed to me that I had made the right choice in selecting him as our Chef, especially as both he and Jo are really nice friendly people and quick to put us at our ease - I hope we were equally friendly, this was a new experience for us all!
We all wish him well in his future career, I have no doubt that he has a great future ahead of him.
I have never hired a personal chef before and up front I'd like to say the entire experience was easy, seamless and extremely well managed. Much in part to how La Belle Assiette made it easy to find and book a chef at short notice, how quickly they processed the booking and confirmed the reservation, to how they followed up to ensure everything had gone well.... I myself was slow on providing feedback to ensure all had gone according to plan.
However the rest of the kudos has to go to Gabor (Gee). Very shortly after booking Gee contacted me in regards to some questions I had about changing aspects of the chosen menu. Gee was extremely accomodating and offered alternates very easily. Several times prior I contacted Gee to which he was super responsive and helpful.
On the evening, Gee arrived on time and was really pleasant to chat with while he was working. He ensured the evening went well, asked about timings for each course and table seating arrangements. He also set the table, served a 6 course dinner for 7 people, washed up and left no trace that he'd ever been there!
We had several different canapes with our 6 courses of, trout, soup, scallops, lamb and creme brûlée... all of which was cooked and presented sublimely. Truly amazing food... Have I forgotten a dish maybe? Not at all... the one dish that took us all completely by suprise, Gee's Basil Granita. Such a simple dish, meant only to lighten the palate after the main meal was a massive hit with the entire family; fresh, exploding with taste and so very moreish! You have to ask him to make it for you when you hire him!
Another really nice touch by Gee was cooking more portions for most of the courses. We essentially had a very high class restaurant meal and then at the end of the table, having extra servings for that course as you wanted it. This was especially appreciated when the lamb course was served!!
I whole heartedly recommend Gee for being professional, personable and for cooking damn well amazing food!

A comment on your experience - Booking through a catering company you haven’t used before can be a bit nerve racking, but I would 100% recommend. From the start the chef was great with communication, he chatted to me about options I could switch on the menu and talked to me about arrival times and logistics. He was on time and polite and you hardly knew he was in the house until the food was served. The food was gorgeous and he really made it special with the presentation. He cleaned up everything and I must admit it was cleaner than when he started afterwards. Amazing value, it was the highlight of everyone’s weekend.

Our experience both with La Belle Assiette, and with Gabor Halmai has been absolutely flawless. From the immediate chat and advice on the website, to the quick email responses and appropriate recommendations, the company has been great and made the process very easy. What's more, is the chef himself spoke highly of the company, which I feel says a lot.
We had our meal prepared by Gabor Halmai, or Gee, and he quite rightly came very highly recommended. The experience was a total treat; we booked this as a surprise 40th for my brother, and Gee rang beforehand to confirm the details and was very helpful, even kind enough to wait in the lay-by for the birthday boy to get out of the house. He was accommodating, even when I failed to confirm something, he was gracious enough to take the initiative, and he nailed it. On the night itself he was discreet, charming, extremely organised and skilled, willing to answer endless questions from our foodie guests, and ultimately made an evening with friends and family, fun and special.
We are big eaters, and were more than satisfied by the end of the meal, and Gee's food was second to none - I can't imagine eating that well in a restaurant for a remotely comparable cost. He also left the kitchen better than he found it: to be able to stand up and walk away with a glass in hand and no debris left behind was the icing on the cake.
Honestly, I don't tend to gush so much in reviews, but from start to finish this was a wonderful experience, and I have no reservations whatsoever in recommending both Gee, and La Belle Assiette. I'm sure we'll be back.

The food and service he provided were excellent. The menu was well thought out and every course was delicious with portion size being perfect. He made it a very special and memorable Christmas eve/birthday treat for all of us.
After cooking he cleaned my entire kitchen and I think left it cleaner than when he arrived!

I have to say what a unique experience this was having someone come to our house to cook for us and our friends for my wife's birthday, Our chef Gee was amazing all 6 courses of food was 5 star,he also helped me with the menu.

We had an absolutely fantastic meal, with different dietary requirements catered for perfectly. It was wonderful not to have to do any preparation for our dinner party, and particularly nice not to have to wash up after our guests left!
