Validation Dinner: Jegan Bobb

Congratulations to Jegan Bobb on his successful validation dinner. His validation took place on the 23rd of November in Birmingham. The role of the jury members was to try the private chef dining experience and evaluate the menu prepared by the chef.

The Chef

Born in The Gambia, Jegan grew up admiring my mums cooking, always offering to taste her dishes to develop critical tastebuds. His roots influenced him to create food using the freshest ingredients, drawing the most from their flavours. This skill pushed Jegan to pursue his hobby turning it into a career! With over 20 years experience, notably working with his all-time hero of the culinary world, Gary Rhodes, Jegan took on bigger challenges to gain more experience. He worked as the Chef for the England Football Team and as the Olympic Production Chef before becoming Head Chef and later Executive Chef for Coventry University Development for Students’ Well-Being. Jegan became a Private Chef to share his passion. He enjoys his work so much that when he has a day off he always invite friends and family’s to come and join him on a cooking adventure.

The Menu

Starter

Pan seared scallops, chard, pickled cucumber, crushed peas and pancetta crisp

Mushroom Arancini

Main

Confit shoulder of lamb, beetroot and potato terrine, cabbage parcel, butternut squash puree and red wine and rosemary jus

Dessert

Classic panna cotta, mix berries compote, tear drop meringue and buttered shortbread biscuits

‘Jegan was very accommodating and professional. The main course of lamb was melt in your mouth soft and was an absolute delight. For dessert we had a panna cotta with plenty of wobble and some lovely flavoured meringues as well as mixed berries. Jegan explained what each course was and checked that we were happy regularly. He was friendly and interesting to talk to clearly being knowledgeable about food.’
