My name is Yvie and I am very excited to be joining the UK team at La Belle Assiette.
I am a French and Management student at the University of Exeter, currently spending my third year abroad in Paris in order to improve my French language skills and learn more about French culture.
Even though I was born and bred in the English countryside, I have been lucky enough to travel all over the world due to my Mum’s job. Because of this, I was exposed to many different cuisines at a young age, and thus began my appreciation of food. I have travelled through Asia, Europe, North and South America as well as many other places sampling flavours and going on culinary adventures. My favourite meals growing up included Nasi Goreng and Spaghetti Vongole, so I guess you could say I didn’t have a normal child’s palate!
As I have become older, my passion for food has grown exponentially. Nowadays, one of my favourite pastimes is reading blog posts and reviews to discover the newest restaurants and food trends. Whenever I travel to a new place, I will always spend time doing research to find the gems of local cuisine, carefully planning every meal to make sure I get the best out of the experience. I could spend hours scrolling through Instagram looking at pictures of food and reading restaurant menus.
In addition to eating my way through the world, I am also an avid baker and cook. I love experimenting with new recipes for friends and family to try, particularly with innovative and unusual ingredients.
