About the Chef

Ben started off in a little butchers shop in his home town of Kempston in bedfordshire. At a very early age he was transfixed with the idea of local and wild foods, often to be found roaming the county countryside scrumping for apples, poaching the odd pheasant and of course fishing the back waters for trout. At a very early age he was transfixed with the idea of local and wild foods, often to be found roaming the county countryside scrumping for apples, poaching the odd pheasant and of course fishing the back waters for trout. The after school activities that set him on his way for the rest of his working life. Fast forward 17 years and you can see that Ben's career has been a varied and exciting adventure, working in some of the countries top hotels, restaurants and bars ben has accumulated a varied and methodical set of skills which set him apart in the private and commercial market of the chef world. Working as a private and freelance chef in the North West of England, Ben describes his cooking style as Modern British with hints of Classical french and Nordic simplicity. "I take my cooking seriously, but seriously enough to still be able to enjoy it and have fun with it. Everyone can cook but it's what you do with it as an individual that makes it special".
